Busy summer

It's been a fairly busy summer. And it's going to continue to be busy so postings here will be very sporadic.

The weekend of June 23-26 we went camping at Sampson State Park on Seneca Lake. Seneca Lake is one of the Finger Lakes. We hit the outlets at Waterloo one day and spent Sunday at the campsite watching soccer and having a barbeque. Ariane and Gregg came Saturday night and stayed until Sunday. Gregg is from Scotland and is a huge soccer fan. The Tripp girls play soccer, too, so they are very interested in it, too. Scott read a book and I worked on some cross stitch. We had a very nice weekend.



The week before we left for Sampson I bought a new car. It's a 2006 Kia Sportage and I love it. My 1995 Chrysler Cirrus was going to need more repairs so we decided it was time to trade it. Isn't it cute?! The color is Royal Jade Green.



This Saturday we leave for our annual week at Wellesley Island on the St. Lawrence River. There are two places near there that have yarn so I'm planning on a little buying spree. I haven't really bought any yarn in a long time. I have to see what projects I have in the trailer. I didn't take a lot for the long weekend so I'll have to add a couple more projects.

I've been mainly working on the little crocheted hats. I have 9 done so far. I need to wash them and send them out by Friday. Hopefully I'll remember to take a picture before they are gone.

Next charity project will be 6 sets of mittens for an Indian reservation. Ann from Sheep Shots has issued a challenge to make 6 pairs of mittens and send them to her before October 1. I have one mitten done so far. This set is made from WoolEase but the rest will probably be Patons Classic Merino. I bought an old 2 needle mitten pattern book (copyright 1945) at an antique show recently and I'd like to try some of the patterns. The only problem is that I don't think the needle sizes listed are the same as the ones we use now and there is no gauge of any kind listed. They do indicate whether the yarn is worsted weight or bulky weight. One pattern indicates size 2 and 4 needles for worsted weight yarn. That would make them practically bullet proof. I'll figure it out.

Well, I have to go clean off the kitchen counters so the exterminator can spray for ants today. We've had quite the infestation of the little pests.
