Oola Luna

Isn't this yarn pretty? It's Endless Summer Collection "Luna" from elann.com in the color Silken Damask. It's 57% viscose/43% cotton and very soft and shiny.

And I am making it into this sweater.

The pattern is from the book "Quick Knits to Wear by House of White Birches". When I first ordered the yarn and started the sweater, I was planning on having it finished by May 20th for Alek's college graduation. Somehow, I don't think it's going to be done by then since I haven't knit much more than what you see here.

Instead, I've been working on a charity vest for CIC (Children in Common) in lilac Lopi. It's almost done and I'll post a picture of the finished vest.

I also working on chemo hats for the latest Yarn Yoga charity drive. Here is a hat made from Bernat "Solo". I started it a couple of months ago and finally finished it. The whole hat was supposed to be in garter stitch but I was working on it at Weight Watchers one night and totally forgot that I was supposed to be knitting one row and purling one row. (The hat is worked in the round). So I finished it in stockingette stitch and called it a design element. And I like it better this way.

Here is the progress I've made on my cross stitch picture. It's not much I know. I have really been concentrating on that CIC vest. I had hoped to get it done by April 28th so I could send it in time for the vest/sweater challenge but I didn't quite make it. So I think I'll make a pair of socks to go with it.

I won't get much stitching of any kind done today. We are hosting a wine tasting here at the house tonight and I have a ton of stuff to get done. We will have around 20 people. They are supposed to bring a bottle of wine that they've never tasted before to share with everyone. Actually it's one bottle per couple. We did it last year and had a lot of fun. So we're trying it again.

And on that note, I'm off to do some housecleaning, cooking, etc. Enjoy your weekend!

Camping season is upon us!

Today, for your enjoyment (or maybe that's my enjoyment), I am posting pictures of our new 5th Wheel travel trailer. We bought it in October of 2005 and haven't even used it yet. How sad is that? Our first trip out will be May 6 - 9. We're heading for the Lake George RV Park which is very nice. And it's located right near a mile of outlet stores. Lots of fun!

I also have another picture of the dining room. This one shows the new rug and the curtains.

I know it's hard to tell but the pattern on the rug is fruit. And I have a partially finished counted cross stitch sampler that I think will compliment it perfectly.

I am stitching pears in the empty square and will frame and hang it when it's done. This is the first cross stitching I've done in quite a while. I think I'm going to get back into it again. I stopped about 6 years ago because my wrists were screaming at me but they're recovered now. Just what I need - another stitching obsession!

Well, time to do that whole work thing again. I need the money to support all my bad habits!!

Spring is coming, right?

After a few teasingly warm days, it's back to typical central NY weather - cold! I know spring will get here but why does it have to take so long?!

Last weekend we went to Rochester to move Ariane into a new apartment. I decided that it was time to finish the cabled slippers for her friends. Well, I got two of the four pairs done by the time we got there. This is Mel's pair all done.

And this is Ashley's pair shown in progress. I did get them done on the two hour ride to Rochester.

The girls both loved them. Now I have to do some for Kelly and Kate.

The move went very smoothly and Ariane, Ashley, and Kelly have a beautiful place to live.

Last night I went to the library knitting group and finished up some baby booties for charity.

These booties will be sent to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester to their children's hospital. I think it's called the Golisano Children's Hospital. I want to get a few more baby sets done for here. Strong Memorial is where my father went to get a liver transplant (unfortunately, he died before he could get one), and Ariane was there twice - once when she had the blood clot in her lung and then to have her knee operated on. I have a connection to this hospital so I'm donating to them.

I just realized that there are only 4 pairs of booties here. I thought I had 5 pairs done. Hmm, I wonder if I'm crazy or a pair is missing? I think I only finished 4. And I'm pretty sure I'm crazy.

And that's the story for today.
